BBSA is honored to host two expert presentations scheduled for
Saturday, February 14, 2026 at ODUs Constant Hall Auditorium.
(S/V HALAHA and the expert on tides and currents in the southern Bay and beyond).
Southern Bay currents routinely challenge all sailors. Jeff will discuss how to recognize current conditions and changes, and how to navigate most effectively whether racing or cruising.
Hear from expert sailmakers how to gain the best performance from your sails (and boat) through improved understanding of sail types and trimming them for performance.
Saturday, February 14 at ODU Constant Hall Auditorium, 49th St & Bluestone Ave.
There will be a $20 registration fee that will include breakfast refreshments, bagels w/fixins, donuts, coffee, soft drinks. Register/pay in advance. Free parking is provided in the parking garage directly across 49th St. from Constant Hall on levels 1 thru 3. (See map).

Marking the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, a fleet of international tall ships will sail into the port of Virginia on June 19, 2026. The 26 nautical mile spectacular parade will feature ships from around the world sailing together into downtown Norfolk.
Broad Bay Sailing Association will be participating in the Escort Fleet forming the Parade of Sail. Sign up now to be part of our fleet! Sail alongside the tall ships! To be in the BBSA Fleet, you must register with us by February 28!! Note: This date may be extended depending on response.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, The Parade of Sail escorting the international tall ship fleet will depart from the Lynnhaven Anchorage off the Virginia Beach Shore Drive Lesner Bridge area, sail through Hampton Roads, and into the Elizabeth River.

After signing up to be part of the BBSA Escort Fleet, each BBSA registrant/owner of a participating vessel must also complete a Sail250® Virginia “Escort Fleet” Individual Boater Registration Form (link shown below), to be submitted by April 15, 2026.

Key Dates:
After the Parade of Sail to Waterside, vessels wishing to stay in the area are strongly recommended to anchor at Hospital Point as early as possible. Due to the high boat traffic expected in the area all are advised to have appropriate anchor and navigation lights for large boats and also dinghies. Some boats will simply return to their homeport rather than anchor overnight.
