BROAD BAY SAILING ASSOCIATION
Training

BBSA provides sailing, seamanship, safety, and racing skills training in multiple ways.  We offer scheduled training sessions led by experts throughout the year, but primarily during the winter months in the off season.  Sessions can last from one hour to a day and may be located in various settings.  Theses types of sessions could include:

  • Rules of Racing
  • Managing a Race and Serving on Race Committee
  • Anchoring Techniques
  • Sail Trim Science and Techniques
  • Planning a Cruise

We also try to offer some sort of educational or informational presentation at our monthly meetings.  These usually last about 30-45 minutes, embedding within the meeting time, which also includes socializing and BBSA business.

BBSA members also take advantage of many of the local groups that also offer training, such as:

  • Sail Nauticus
  • Hampton Yacht Club (HYC)
  • Cruising Club of Virginia (CCV)
  • US Sailing
  • Old Point Comfort Yacht Club (OPCYC)

If you have special requests or suggestions for training or if you have questions, please let us know.   Go to the Training Contacts page and send us a note.
