Ed and Aimee Darling are hosting a cruise to Yorktown Riverwalk Landing for the annual Pirate Invasion. There will be many activities in town as well as a happy hour on the dock hosted by Ed and Aimee.
NOTE: There can be strong currents in the marina area depending on the tide, so plan your entry accordingly. The staff is very helpful with entry advice and getting your boat secured, so Harbormaster Sue has asked that we call 10 minutes ahead of entering the harbor. She and her team will guide boats in one at a time and get them secured to their proper berths. Please do not enter the marina without contacting her first.
HYC members get 10% off dock price. However, they must have their membership card present. Also mention you are with the BBSA/HYC cruise so that Sue can try to put us together. Don't forget, make marina reservations and let Ed and Aimee know you are planning to come. There have been some cancellations, so be sure to get on the waiting list to get a spot in line.

We have made tentative reservations, but you should make your own reservation as soon as possible because there will be a lot of boats stopping at Waterside this time of the year.
Mention you are with the BBSA when you make your reservations. If possible, we’ll try to get adjacent slips. You are responsible for making and/or canceling any reservations made in your name.
Waterside is in downtown Norfolk in the Elizabeth River.
It is a busy area so watch for traffic.
If you prefer to anchor, Hospital Point is directly across the Elizabeth River from Waterside.
There are lots of restaurants at Waterside so get your group together and make your reservation for dinner, or you may prefer to eat on board.

Russ and Melody Fink have planned a terrific Memorial Day Cruise to Mobjack Bay. This is the same destination as last year, if any of you joined that cruise. This is an anchoring cruise with a potluck ashore at Roy and Irene Weisert's on Saturday night. Bring something to throw on the grill and a dish to share. They have some space at their dock, first reservations, first serve. Don’t forget to RSVP if you plan on attending. See details below.
Memorial Day Cruise to the Mobjack Bay

May 25-27, 2019
This is BBSA/HYC’s annual Memorial Day weekend cruise to the Mobjack Bay area. Come join the partying and fellowship.
Please contact us by May 18th, if possible, if you plan to join this exciting cruise, so we can plan for the approximate number of people attending our Saturday docktail/potluck get together.
We plan to anchor in the East River farther in than Williams Wharf. Generally, there is good anchoring on both sides of the channel between day marks green 13 and 15 (Williams Wharf to Long Point). If the wind in that area is adverse for comfort, we will retreat up beyond Long Point. Roy and Irene Weisert have generously offered the use of their dock for boats which do not want to anchor – first to reserve with us will get priority. The group may or may not decide (at the docktail/dinner get together on Saturday at Weisert’s) to relocate over to the Severn River for Sunday night. If the group decides to relocate to the Severn, we can anchor beyond School Neck Point on the Northwest branch or on the Southwest branch past red 2.
Navigation /Local Knowledge:
Contact us if you have any concerns.
The East River is generally protected from any long fetch (waves), but not wakes. There are a lot of nice areas for kayaking and dinghying. This area is where high schools run crew races in the spring. If we are lucky, we might see some crew practice in the channel.
