Join us for an informal gathering of BBSA members with a potluck, raffle, and few short presentations. For the potluck, the theme is 'comfort food'. Please try to bring: Nostalgic, warm and comforting food--something to get over the cold weather. Crockpots welcome! Please bring serving utensils as needed.
We will also hold a 50/50 raffle: Tickets are five dollars each, cash only. Half the pot goes to the raffle winner and half goes to BBSA to support room and meeting costs.
If you want to purchase any extra Cape Charles Cup shirts online, we can bring pre-orders to the meeting. To order go to: Store
Kristin Rutkowski will present the 'Her Helm' project, celebrating boat captains who are women making space for themselves in the maritime world. The Chesapeake Bay edition of the project is being collected into a collectible fine art book which recounts the tales of women who have backgrounds such as owning their own watercraft, holding USCG licenses, racing sailboats across an ocean, delivering boats, educating others, operating a ferry, and many more.
Mike Ottaway, BBSA Cruising Captain, will present: "Cruising 101 - Anyone can do this"
Mike will explain his role as the Cruising Fleet Captain as he understands it. He will give some examples (and pictures) of the activities around previous cruises. He'll discuss some basic cruising needs: boat, equipment, provisions, attitude, etc. He will highlight the cruises that are planned for 2025 from the planning meeting. Open up for Q&A.
