Independence Day Cruise to Cape Charles
We already have 29 boats signed up and the marina is full. We have at least 2 on the waiting list, who will likely get a slip. If you have already sent Sergio an RSVP, (the planning started in last December) he will be contacting or has contacted you with slip assignments. If you have not already signed up, he can get you on the waiting list and will let you know if he can get you a slip. The plans are still a little flexible, but the basic plan is as follows:
Saturday – Sail over to Cape Charles City Marina. We will gather on the docks usually near Modus Vivendi for our usual docktails at 1700. Please bring an appetizer to share (see note on appetizers below) and of course plenty of your favorite libation. If you have a small table, please bring it so we can place appetizers on it. If you want to sit, bring a folding chair of some sort. Everyone should make their own plans for dinner, whether on the boat or in town
Sunday - During the day, you have time to decorate your boat to celebrate our Independence in style. Please take the time to explore the town, enjoying of course the various eateries and drinking establishments. Don’t forget to stop in at the Gull Hammock for their daily wine tasting. Time will posted outside the shop. The plan for Docktails is the same as Saturday night, gather on the docks at 1700. Please bring an appetizer to share and your favorite libation.
Monday (Independence Day) – Details for the town of Cape Charles 4th of July activities have not yet been posted, but the town always hosts a local parade, usually around 1000. Last year we gathered at the distillery which made for a great spot to watch the parade and enjoy Bloody Mary’s made with local spirits. Monday evening, we will gather on the docks at around 1800 for docktails which will be followed by a potluck. Please bring appetizers as well as a main dish to share. At sunset, the City of Cape Charles always puts on a great fireworks exhibition and our dock makes for a great spot to enjoy them.
Tuesday – Depart the docks at will and take a leisurely sail back to our respective home ports before we go back into our usual grind.

** Note on appetizers: We realize that not everyone can cook on their boat or may not have lots of room. You can bring pre-made food or snacks, such as chips and dip. Please contribute something. With 29 boats, we will likely spread all over the dock, so we may end up with multiple food spots.
