The holiday season in Norfolk officially kicks off the weekend of November 20-22 with the Grand Illumination Parade and the spectacular lighting of the downtown skyline. The streets will come alive with dazzling floats, marching bands, giant balloons, dancers, and of course, Santa himself!

Reserve Your Slip Early
If last year was any indication, the Waterside Marina will once again be overflowing with holiday spirit and sailboats. Expect another full takeover of the marina—make sure you call (757) 625-3625 early to secure your slip and mention you’re with the Grand Illumination Cruise. You can also make reservations in Dockwa.

Crock Pot Challenge – Saturday @ 6
Our much-loved Crock Pot Challenge returns Saturday evening along the seawall. Last year brought entries of soups, stews, chilis, and hot brews. Warm winter libations also made a splash. We’ll again award gifts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Bring your best holiday comfort food and festive spirit!

Explore the Holiday Waterfront
During downtime, take advantage of Norfolk Waterside’s E-Scooters to explore Town Point Park, Waterside Live marketplace, and Nauticus. Last year there was Ice skating next to the marina! All beautifully lit for the holidays.

Sunday Breakfast

As has become tradition to gather for a hearty Sunday morning holiday breakfast on the Norfolk Waterside seawall, same spot as the Crock Pot Challenge and watch the foot race go by.  Please bring along a breakfast dish to share before we all head for home.

Don’t miss this festive weekend of sailing camaraderie, holiday lights, and community cheer. Mark your calendars for November 20-22, 2026. We can’t wait to celebrate with you at Norfolk Waterside.
