Wellness Check: Alan Moore

Saturday, December 21, 2024 10:42 AM | Eric Brinsfield (Administrator)

BBSA Members,

Longtime BBSA Member Alan Moore (co-owner of Trouble) has entered Hospice Care after a long fight with cancer.

If any of you would like to visit Alan, he is located at:
4573 Bob Jones Drive
Virginia Beach, VA 23462

The family asks that you call this number before visiting: (972) 896-5595.
I recommend that you visit Alan before Christmas. If you can't make it to visit, you are welcome to mail Alan a card or note at the address above.

BBSA has also set up this online forum where you can send notes to Alan, if you like.  Feel free to share your favorite Alan story.  You may add comments by clicking on the Comments link below, then selecting Add Comment.

For as long as I have known Alan, he has always had a big personality and a bigger smile on his face .... and more friends than you can count.

I visited Alan two days ago in the hospital. He was alert and in good spirits and Alan was politely laughing at some of my jokes.

Keep Alan and his family in your prayers.

    Good Morning Alan,
I love all out racing battles between Set Free and Trouble with Little Creek Racers. Talking cap to you guys, winning some and losing some. Regardless who won when we pulled back in the slip next to you guys it was always friendly banter. My best racing memory at Little Creek involved you, John and Trouble. As RC I stupidly set a downwind start with the current also pushing boat towards me that were preparing to start. Results, Set Free was rammed not once but by 2 different boats. Coeur d’Alene on my bow and appropriately named, Trouble hit me on my port side forward. Thankfully no one was hurt and the boat damage was minimal. Thanks for the memory, let’s get together soon and talk a little more about racing and how to get Trouble , the boat not you, back out on the race course. Best wishes, Rob & Jen Williams, S/V Set Free

    Morning Allen,
I still remember when Trouble and Sea Goat collided at the finish line. We looked at the scratches at the dock, made nothing of it, and went for a beer at AJ Gators afterwards. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    Best, Selo

Happy Holidays Alan. Remembering your visit with Michael/Fatboy in the Outer Banks. He was so touched when you gave him your first surfboard. If that surfboard could only talk! You are such a treasure to Michael, Alvin and myself. Sending lots of love your way. Joni.

Alan good afternoon. Checking in to report it is chilly outside. Probably not a good day to sail. But could be a great day for a toddy in front of the fireplace. Sending lots of love to you. Kisses Joni from Black Widow
