We are happy to have enthusiastic sailors join our crew. We have an 81 Pierson Flyer. We participate on Wednesday night beer can races (leave dock at 5PM from Bay Point Marina) and the occasional weekend regattas (some take up to 6 hrs). Experienced and new sailors alike are welcome. We are known for being a fun crew. Reach us at 757-839-0246. Selo

We're looking for crew to sail with us in Aspire for the Veteran's Cup Regatta on June 26 (underway from Bay Point Marina at 0900 for 1100 start time). Can use experienced jib and main trimmers but will happily work with trainees. The goals are to have fun, learn something, and finish the race

    Hi Captains

I'm going to be new to the area around mid/late March, relocating from Utah mainly to get a boat and increase my sailing time and on bigger water.

I'm somewhat experienced (see summary below), mainly lake not as much  coastal/ocean.

Looking forward to sailing with you

    Thanks

    Andy

    • Learnt sailing on the Norfolk Broads (UK) on Toppers mainly (think Laser just smaller), with some day sailers.
    • Then not a lot apart from the odd day or 2 on vacations on smaller boats (lasers, hobies)
    • A couple of years ago I did a passage from US Virgin to Key West on a 60' ketch
    • Last year I purchased an O'Day 25' and sailed ~ 100 days on Utah Lake. Entered and won the regatta with my daughters as crew (novice), there was only 4 or 5 boats in the novice
    • Sailed several "beer can" races
    • Took the club record for Solo distance in 24hrs, I stopped once I hit 100nm
    • Crewed and Captained an O'Day 30'
    • Spent a week in Long Beach doing US Sailing Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising class on a 40' Beneteau and 38' Lagoon

I am looking for experienced crew for the 2021 season.  I have a couple of inexperienced crew but need crew who know how to sail and can help teach others.  Boat is a Hunter 460 cruising boat; it's comfortable but not designed for racing so please take that into consideration.  text me at 757-639-6671 if interested.  Thanks, Rob Williams S/V Set Free

At this time, BBSA does not offer training for beginning sailors except for crewing with one of our racing skippers.   This year COVID has limited many of our training events.

We can try to get you on a racing boat if you are interested.

Also, you may find the information on this page interesting:  https://broadbaysailing.org/Path-to-Sailing
At the bottom, we list local organizations that do offer training.
